The Research at RIT publications consist of annual reports, brochures, and an event program related to the research activities at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The annual reports published from 2003 to 2007 contain highlights of faculty research and scholarship, financial summary, an overview of research activities for the year. In 2008, research reports were published twice a year as Research at RIT and contain information on focus areas of research, innovation and entrepreneurship in research, and research awards. The collection also includes annual reports from Sponsored Research Services from 2004-2010, a program brochure from the 2006 Principal Investigators reception, and a promotional brochure from 2008 about Corporate R&D at RIT. It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute.
